Pay Hikes Coming At Detroit Schools

Detroit public schools principals and assistant principals are close to getting their first raises in more than  eight years.
The Detroit Board of Education’s Finance Committee last month approved a 3-percent raise for the administrators.

That raise has to be approved by the full board of education, which is holding its next regular meeting today.

The last raise for principals was in 2010 … their assistants in 2009.

Last fall, the school district negotiated a 3-year contract for teachers that will give them a 7-percent pay increase over 2 years.
