Zoo Plans Great Lakes Center

A new nature center planned in Macomb County will center on wildlife in fresh water.
Detroit Zoo Director Ron Kagan says it will be a 10-million dollar, 20-thousand square foot facility.

The plans are still in the works. Kagan says the zoo is still looking for donations to help build this center. They’re leaving some mystery in this project. Kagan says they will announce the exact location of the center in the next couple of months. They hope to open the Great Lakes Nature Center in late 2019. Aquariums, habitats for native amphibians, reptiles, turtles, small mammals, shorebirds and birds of prey will be part of the planned nature center.
