Shooting Spree Killer Comes To Court

A man facing murder charges in a Wayne and Oakland Counties shooting spree is due in court today.
45 year old Vernest Griffin is charged in the slayings of 60 year old Keith Kitchen in Taylor and 58 year old Eriberto Perez in Pontiac.

Prosecutors say Kitchen was shot in the morning of February 1st at a trucking business in Taylor.

Griffin had lost his job at the plant in November.

Griffin then took a semi-trailer cab at gunpoint and drove some 30 miles to an aluminum stamping plant where he shot Perez.

Police say he then drove to another trucking firm nearby Waterford Township, apparently looking for another possible victim.

He left when he couldn’t find the man, but was wounded in a shootout with police.
