A western Michigan man is scheduled to go on trial today in the murder of a woman whose body has never been found.
Jeffrey Willis is charged with the kidnapping and murder of Jessica Heeringa.
She was last seen in April of 2013 working as a gas station clerk in the small community of Norton Shores.
A customer found the gas station empty and called police.
Her purse was found in the building, but a lengthy investigation led to no clues as to her whereabouts.
Willis was later arrested and then convicted of the fatal shooting of a female jogger in Muskegon County’s Dalton Township in 2014.
The investigation in that case led to his being charged in the disappearance of Heeringa.
Police said Willis was a sexual predator who killed the woman within 24 hours of her being abducted.
