The Michigan Medical Marijuana Licensing Board meets today.
The state is hoping that the board will have background checks done on completed license applications.
The approval pace had been slowed by a number of factors .. there is confusion over the current state law …. city’s have been slow to enact ordinances that will allow businesses in their communities and the ongoing uncertainty as to how stringent federal authorities will be on the federal level where marijuana is still considered an illegal drug.
The state legislature had voted in 2016 to tax the medical marijuana business that has been operating in a vague legal area since voters approved pot for medical use in 2008.
