Cops Face Neglect Charges In Court

A pre-trial conference has been scheduled for today for two Detroit police officers charged with willful neglect of duty.

Officers Stephen Heid and Ronald Cadez are charged with several wrong-doings in what ended up as a deadly high speed chase.
It was just after 10:30 the night of October 19th.

Prosecutors say they spotted 19 year old Jerry Bradford Junior speeding and chased him.

Bradford lost control of his car and hit another vehicle and then crashed into a tree and was killed.

The officers then left the scene without trying to help the victim or call for medical help.

Prosecutors say they also had failed to report that they were in a high speed chase.

Also, Detroit police are prohibited from engaging in high speed chases except for cases involving violent felonies.

Investigators say the two officers also lied about what had happened ….saying there was no high speed chase and that they later spotted the wrecked car.

A review of the dash cam in their squad car showed otherwise, according to the prosecutor.
