Former Tiger Rusty Staub Dies

A former Tigers all-star has died.
Rusty Staub played 3 seasons as the Tigers designated hitter from ’76 thru ’79.
The Tigers acquired Staub in a big trade, he was traded from the New York Mets for Mickey Lolich. Staub was a star in the National League for the Mets and Expo’s, where his number was retired.
Rusty Staub was 73. His family says he had been in ill health for several years. He played in the major leagues for 23 years.
