Hit Man Confesses; Prosecutor Skeptical.

A hearing is scheduled to resume today in a case involving a hit mans confession and the conviction of a supposedly innocent man.

38 year old Thelonious Searcy was convicted of first degree murder in the 2005 slaying of Jamal Segars.

Now, Marzelle Black, a co-defendant of self-admitted hit man Vincent Smothers said Smothers told him it was he who killed Segars.

Wayne County prosecutors are not buying the story.

They are fighting the effort to get Searcy freed from prison.

Black and Smothers had been tried together in the 2007 murder of Rose Cobb.

Black is serving a 15 year sentence in her murder.

A hearing on the effort to have the charges against Searcy dropped is scheduled to resume in Wayne County Circuit Court.
