Macomb Has Idea On Paying For Road Repairs

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel wants to use money in the county’s delinquent tax revolving fund to help pay for the county’s half of designated road projects in communities, with cities and townships picking up the other half.

The top road on the list would be Mound Road in Warren.
it would have to be approved by county commissioners and local officials.

Under state law, the county retains all delinquent taxes, interest and penalties collected to offset its tax collection costs. The surplus earned is under the control of the board of commissioners.

Several communities plan to ask voters for millages to repair roads. Money generated could be used to get the matching funds from the county.
