Man Who Staged Crime Wave Hauled To Court

Vernest Griffin, the man who went on a shooting rampage, killing two men in separate shootings in Taylor and in Pontiac, is expected in court for a hearing.

The crime spree occurred when Griffin walked into a trucking company building in Taylor and opened fire, killing Keith Kitchen, a manager of the business.

Griffin had been fired there before the shooting spree. Police say Griffin carjacked a semi-truck and drove to Pontiac, where he found and fatally shot another man — 58-year-old Eriberto Perez. He then hunted for a third former boss in Waterford Township, but was involved in a crash. Police tracked him down and got into a shootout, and captured Griffin.
Griffin has been undergoing mental exams.
