The Oakland County sheriff’s office is investigating after a man was shot and killed by Royal Oak police after fleeing a traffic stop.
Police tried to stop the man for a traffic violation.The man stopped then fled the scene.
They caught up with him in a White Castle drive-thru at 13 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway.
That’s where an officer fired several shots. The driver left, but he collapsed and died in his car, which was crashed nearby.
The officer who fired the shots has been placed on leave.
