Accused Cop Faces Possible Trial

A Detroit police officer is facing numerous charges of misconduct.

A preliminary exam is scheduled today for officer Jerold Blanding.
He had been placed on restrictive duty following a fatal shooting in February of last year.

He was cleared of any wrongdoing in that case, but was not allowed to carry a firearm.

In December of last year, he showed up while off duty at an injury car accident on Puritan.

Other officers at the scene say Blanding interfered as they tried to help the victim.

They also noticed that he had been drinking.

He then resisted arrest and was taken into custody.

Officers then found he had three handguns in his possession.
