Southfield police believe they now have the man responsible for the slaying of an 81 year old woman.
The victim was killed seven years ago.
A preliminary exam is scheduled for today for 52 year old Darrin Keener of Toledo in the death of Helen Gale of Southfield.
Her body was found burned beyond recognition in the back seat of her car in an alley in Highland park in November of 2011.
Police needed dental records to identify her.
Police say Keener was a former next door neighbor of the dead woman.
Southfield police say they had little to go on in their investigation … then last year asked for help from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department cold case squad.
That investigation led to Keener’s arrest.
