A warning for area motorists.
The westbound lanes of I-696 between Dequindre and U-S 24 will be shut down tonight.
This stretch of the freeway and all of its entrance ramps will be shut down, starting at 9 tonight and remain closed until 5am Monday morning.
The suggest detour from I-75 is westbound eight mile to northbound M-10 to westbound I-696 or U-S 24
Michigan Department of Transportation crews will be doing pavement and join repairs in isolated spots on the westbound freeway and sporadic closings can be expected to continue through the summer.
