Bike Tragedy Sentencing

It was a crime that shocked Michigan. A driver who ran down and killed 5 bicyclists in Kalamazoo County is to be sentenced today.
52 year old Charles Pickett was convicted of 2nd degree murder in the June, 2016 incident.

Prosecutors say there was no doubt that Pickett had swallowed pain killers and other drugs before driving his pickup into a group of riders.

In addition to the 5 that were killed, 4 others were seriously injured.

Pickett is facing a life prison sentence.

A memorial to the victims and survivors of that bike crash was unveiled in the small community of Cooper Township last week.
