Fight Over Embryo’s Back In Court

An Oakland County Circuit Court judge is scheduled to hear arguments today on whether she has jurisdiction over a case involving frozen human embryos.
Gloria Karungi of Farmington Hills and Ronaldlee Ejalu of Novi have a 7 year old daughter who has sickle cell anemia.

Se wants to have another child with the embryos because she believes bone marrow cells for a new sibling could possibly cure her daughters blood disorder.

But Elaju must give his consent under terms of a contract signed with an in vitro fertilization clinic.

He is fighting the move.

The two never married and separated in 2013.
He is married to another woman and has a child with her.

Oakland County Judge Lisa Langton last year ruled she didn’t have the authority in the embryo dispute; she was determining financial support and parenting time . But the Michigan appeals court sent the case back to Langton for more work.
