Plane Crash In Detroit Probed, 2 Dead

Authorities will try to determine why a small plane went down while trying to land at Detroit City Airport. Two people were killed. A teenaged boy was pulled from the burning wreckage and is in critical condition.
The plane had left an airport in Arkansas just before 4 p.m. and was due to land about 8 pm.
The FAA confirmed the pilot was in contact with the tower and had indicated landing gear issues and was running out offuel prior to the crash.

The plane circled the runway and attempted to land in the grass. It went down in the neighborhood next to the airport.
A man who lives nearby ran to try to save those who were onboard. He was able to pull the teenager out.

Authorities say 54-year-old man and 48-year-old woman died in the crash. The 17 year old who was pulled from the crash is in critical condition. The wreckage is in a residential area on Milton near Van Dyke and Lynch Road.
