A long-time landmark in Dearborn is closing its doors today.
The Mercury Lanes Bowling Center is closing after 70 years in operation.
At one time Detroit had been called the bowling capitol of the world.
But the area will see two closings this week alone.
The Mercury Lanes today and the Airway Lanes in Waterford on Saturday.
It had been open for 25 years
Owners of both locations thanked their customers for their long and loyal support.
Analysts say bowling was very much a social activity that has been replaced, in part, by Facebook and other social media.
