A gas station clerk who fatally shot a customer on Detroit’s west side will stand trial
Rami Ali Jaber of Dearborn Heights is charged with first-degree murder for the shooting that happened May 13 at the Citgo gas station on West McNichols near the Southfield Freeway. The shooting set off a community uproar.
A fight between Jaber and a customer escalated and Jabar came out from behind the glass, opened fire, killing the unarmed man. He waived his exam, and will go on to trial. A plea bargain may be expected.
The victim was identified as 34-year-old Derek Roberts.
