Mom Steals From Estate Of Disabled Son

An Eaton County woman is scheduled to be sentenced today for embezzlement.  The victim was her 9 year old son.

32 year old Kasie Pruden-Rivera admitted she stole more than 400-thousand dollars from the boys estate.

The boy has cerebral palsy and permanent brain damage.

The money in his estate was part of a settlement after the boy had suffered medical problems at birth.

Records show the boy had been born at an army hospital in Fort Hood, Texas.

Rivera and her former husband sued the Army.

The justice department reached a settlement agreement that called for the placement of more than 3-million dollars into a trust that was to be used only for the boys medical care.
