Dune Rider Sues Over Crash

Dune riding is a favorite summer-time activity on the sand dunes of west Michigan. A doctor who suffered serious injuries while driving in a rented Jeep on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes is suing the Jeep rental company for millions.

John Ross, a doctor from the Chicago area, has filed a lawsuit against Parrot’s Landing after suffered serious spinal injuries during a family vacation
Last August, Ross, his 16-year-old son and their friends rented a Jeep from Parrot’s Landing, which included an hour of guided time followed by an hour  riding on their own.

Ross was driving the Jeep when  it went over  a steep dune and went airborne. The Jeep came down on its front.

Ross had multiple fractures and spinal compressions that left him disabled. His lawsuit says dune riding is dangerous and the rental company has had  a number of rollover accidents causing injuries.
A lawyer for the rental outlet says the vehicles are safe when used properly, and many riders have safely ridden the vehicles with no problems.
