Why Didn’t FCA Know Sergio Was Sick?

The late Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne was seriously ill for more than a year. The revelations raise the question of why the company didn’t know about it.

The Zurich hospital that treated Sergiio Marchionne revealed that he was sick for more than a year, with a condition which is still mysterious.
Marchionne apparently did not tell the company, and so shareholders did not know.

Marchionne’s family says Fiat Chrysler was not told until just before he died.

Was it the company’s responsibility to know?

The man who saved Fiat and Chrysler put together a 5-year business plan, and despite his plan to retire next year, the Fiat Chrysler annual report states “Marchionne is critical to the implementation of our business plan.”
Rules governing public companies in the U-S do not require them to reveal health problems of top executives, but group the issue with major changes that should trigger a public disclosure.
