The Day Hoffa Went Missing

It was 43 years ago today that former Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa disappeared.

Hoffa’s family told investigators that he had been scheduled to have lunch at the Machus Red Fox in Bloomfield Township at 2pm with Detroit mob captain Anthony Giacalone and New Jersey Mobster Anthony Provenzano.

He calls his wife at 2:15 to say that they never showed up.

He’s never seen again.

The FBI was  called in. WJR News broke the story of his disappearance.

Despite an intensive search and the convening of a federal grand jury, he’s never seen again.

Rumors continue to this day as to what happened to Hoffa.

Most investigators are convinced the mystery will never be solved. Authorities and the Hoffa family concluded long ago that Hoffa was murdered.
