Jimmy Settles Joins Duggan Administration

A longtime U-A-W official will head-up the city of Detroit Department of Neighborhoods.

Jimmy Settles comes to the administration of Mayor Mike Duggan after years of working within the U-A-W, rising thru the ranks from foundry worker, to local 600 activist, to the rank of union vice-president in charge of the Ford Department, and director of U-A-W Region 1-B. Settles retired this year.
He replaces Charlie Beckham, who is retiring after working under 6 Detroit mayors over 40 years… interrupted by a bribery conviction in 1984 while working for Mayor Coleman Young.
The Department of Neighborhoods has an office in each of the 7 city council districts to handle complaints, permits, and city programs.
