Duck Hearing Aims To Help Autistic Boy

A southwest Michigan couple will learn today whether they can keep their ducks.

Mark Dyke and his wife have two ducks at their Georgetown Township home.

They say they provide emotional support for their 12 year old son, who has autism.

A neighbor complained about smell coming from the home because of the ducks waste.

Township officials told the couple they had to get rid of the ducks because of local zoning ordinances.

However, when they discovered the reason the family had the ducks, they offered the family the option of applying for an variance.

This would allow them to keep the ducks as long as they kept the yard clean.

The family is to meet with the zoning board today to see if they will get a variance.
