Warren Mayor Jim Fouts was ordered to appear today for a deposition in a racial bias suit against the city.
He is to be deposed as part of a federal lawsuit filed by former Warren police officer DeShelia Howlett.
The African-American woman says she suffered racial and gender discrimination while employed in the police department between 2000 and 2016 because the city did not
require any diversity training for officers.
Howlett said nothing was done about her complaints and that she believes Fouts had not made such training a priority.
