The awaited traffic shift has occurred on EB I-696 between I-75 and I-94. Vehicles going EB will use the newly paved lanes which will eventually be the WB lanes of the freeway. Crews will now repave the old EB lanes. There will be no entrance ramps from surface streets on this temporary stretch and the only exit ramps will be Dequindre, Mound, and Groesbeck. The entire project is scheduled to be complete sometime in November.
