More Bribe Cases From Macomb Go To Court

Another sentencing is scheduled for today in the ongoing federal investigation involving bribery in Macomb County.
To be sentenced is Paul Modi, a former engineer with the Giffels Webster Engineering firm.

He pled guilty to paying bribes to win contracts.

Between 2011 and 2014, state grants and a state loan funded the majority of several contracts that were awarded to Giffels Webster.

The firm used a private company owned by former Clinton Township Planning Director Carlo Santia as a subcontractor.

He recently testified that he overcharged Giffels Wells in order to get money to reimburse Modi for bribes paid to former Clinton Township Trustee Dean Reynolds.

Reynolds was convicted of 14 counts of bribery in a jury trial and is to be sentenced on October 25th.
