FCA Takes Hit In Q3

Fiat Chrysler reports a 38 percent drop in earnings for the 3rd quarter, expecting a big Justice Department fine for software that was used to cheat emissions rules by diesel-powered vehicles.
The company has denied that it cheated on diesel emissions.
But FCA took a one-time charge of 740-million dollars related to the U-S investigation.
3rd quarter profits were 640-million.
Some good news for the company—
it had a pre-tax profit margin of more than 10-percent in North America,
and U-S market share was nearly 13-percent. And for the first time in 5 years, FCA will pay a dividend.

Fiat Chrysler sold more vehicles in the U-S than Ford in September.
