No Straight Party Voting Today

Straight-ticket will not be allowed in today’s election.
Voters will not be allowed to use a single mark to quickly pick all candidates of a single party.

The Republican-controlled state legislature and the governor had eliminated straight-ticket voting in 2015.

Prior to that, straight-ticket voting had been allowed in the state for 127 years.

Democrats tried to get it reinstated again this year on the grounds that it violated the rights of black voters.

The issue eventually landed before the U-S Supreme Court, where the justices voted not to intervene.

This meant that the ban is in effect for this election.
