A Detroit federal Court Judge’s deadline for having a deported Iraqi man returned to the United States is coming due this week.
Judge Mark Goldsmith ruled on January 16th that he wants Muneer Subailhani back in the country by Thursday.
The order was the latest development in a class-action lawsuit that was filed by the ACLU two years ago aimed at stopping federal immigration officials from deporting more than
14-hundred Iraqi Nationals taken into custody during raids in 2017.
Subailhani was deported in July of that year despite the judge’s preliminary injunction allowing a temporary halt to the deportations.
Efforts were underway to find him after the government realized it had mistakenly removed him.
