A Clinton Township couple are due in court today to face charges in the drug death of their 18-month old daughter.
The death of little Ava Floyd was described as tragic and gut wrenching by Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith.
The girl died on Christmas Day.
An autopsy revealed she had massive amounts of the powerful painkiller Fentanyl in her system.
Authorities say they believe 28 year old Antonio Floyd and 27 year old Shananice Barksdale were involved in drug trafficking and that their daughter ingested some of the drug.
The parents have been charged with 2nd degree murder.
