54 year old Karl Hartman is charged with criminal sexual conduct and furnishing alcohol to minors, who were students at the Kingsley Area schools near Traverse City.
Hartman was principal of Kingsley Middle School, when, according to the charges, an 8 or 9 year old boy spent the night at Hartman’s home, where the principal groped the boy in his bed.
Another boy tells police he was sent to the principal’s office for misbehaving, and Hartman molested him.
In a third incident, Hartman is charged with illicit acts with two boys after getting them drunk.
Hartman has been a school principal for 23 years, was a volleyball and track coach, and was an officer in the Michigan Principal’s Association.
