Packard Owner Owes Big Tax Bill

The owner of the Packard auto ruins has promised he will make good this week on overdue property tax bills for the property in Detroit.

Owner Fernando Palazuelo was told he owed 185-thousand dollars for unpaid 2016 property taxes.

The land appeared last month on a list of Wayne County properties that were at risk of tax foreclosure and put up for auction in the fall.

Palazuelo says he wants to use the property for a mixed-use development.

A spokesman says the money owned was actually from unpaid city storm water drainage fees and not property taxes, but that the money owed would be paid by the end of the month.
