I-75 Rebuild Slightly Delayed

Phase 2 of the I-75 reconstruction project in Oakland County was supposed to start today. Bad weather has put off the start date.

It won’t be until Monday that workers start the preliminaries of the rebuild of I-75.
Initial work will put traffic on the southbound lanes from Adams Rd. to just past 13 Mile, a part of the freeway that drivers say is one of the worst in the area.
Crews will prepare for a traffic shift.
The 224-million dollar project will rebuild everything on that stretch of I-75.
Only 2 lanes will be open in each direction.
Work won’t be complete until early next year.
But that won’t be the end of it.
The final leg will include rebuilding more than 5 miles of the freeway, with new pavement and bridges, from 8 Mile to 13 Mile.
The plan includes adding an HOV lane in each direction.

Phase 3 won’t be done until late 20-23. Total price tag for all of this is 2-billion dollars.
