Car Sales Cool Off In February

Mother Nature put a chill into car sales in February.

Ford, Fiat Chrysler, and the Japanese Big 3 report lower auto sales last month as severe winter weather cut down on buyer traffic in showrooms.
Even some light trucks like the F-150 and SUV’s like the Rav-4 and Jeep Wrangler fell.

Ford reports a 4-percent sales drop compared to last year.
Fiat Chrysler declined 2-percent, even with bigger incentives. But Ram truck was up 24-percent.
Toyota was down 5-percent.
Honda had a slight drop of less than 1-percent. Nissan slipped 12-percent.

General Motors does not report monthly sales.
January and February are usually the weakest months for auto sales.

In contrast, luxury brands Lincoln and Acura had double-digit gains. And Lexus was up 4-percent.
