Judge Under Fire Gets Hearing

The Michigan Judicial Commission is scheduled to conduct a hearing today into its misconduct case against Livingston County District Court Judge Theresa Brennan.

The commission had released a report late last year that found the judge guilty of numerous allegations of ethics violations.

Among the most serious, she was accused of having a relationship with a Michigan State Police investigator who was a key witness in a murder case she was hearing.

This complaint is separate from a criminal case brought against her following an investigation by former Attorney General Bill Schuette.

In that case she is facing three felony counts that could send her to prison.

Today’s Judicial Tenure Commission hearing is to allow her attorney to respond to the ethics violations.
