ICE Shooting Lawsuit In Court

A Detroit Federal Court Judge is scheduled to rule today in lawsuit filed against a U-S immigration and Customs Enforcement Officer.

The case involves the fatal shooting of a robbery suspect four years ago.
The family of Terrance Kellom filed suit against officer Michael Quinn.

Quinn said he acted in self defense, shooting the 20 year old man after he had lunged at him with a hammer.

The case took a strange twist last week when a lawyer for the family charged that a Detroit police officer who had witnessed the shooting recanted his initial testimony about seeing Kellom with a hammer.

The government responded that the officer didn’t change his story, but simply said he couldn’t recall if the victim had been carrying a hammer.

Today’s hearing is on the government’s motion to dismiss the families lawsuit.
