Airport Kickback Case In Court

Corruption— and the victim is the airport.
A former field inspector at Detroit Metro Airport goes on trial today, charged with taking bribes.
James Warner is charged with falsifying invoices, overcharging the airport for work by contractors, and taking kickbacks worth millions. A businessman admitted giving kickbacks to Warner.
Two contractors connected to the scheme have pleaded guilty.

Part of the evidence indicates Warner put the bite on his scheme cohorts.
Authorities say during a dinner meeting, Warner wrote a proposed kickback amount, 5-K, on a napkin. The contractor acknowledged it, and Warner ate the napkin.
