Michigan Crops Behind Schedule

With the cold and wettest spring on record that we’ve had, the Mackinac policy crowd noticed that the lilacs on the island are way behind schedule. And so are the farm crops.
The Farm Bureau says corn and soybeans are way behind their usual pace. It looks like the slowest pace for farm production ever. The Great Lakes farm agency says the month of May has had less than 3 days suitable for work in the fields. The Farm Bureau says an extended dry spell is needed before farmers can resume their normal work. Other nearby states are in the same boat.
