Key Ruling Expected In Flint Water Case

A judge overseeing a Flint water case is scheduled to rule this week on whether he will dismiss two felony charges against Michigan’s former health director.
Nick Lyon has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of two people who had Legionnaire’s disease during the Flint water crises.

Judge Jospeh Farah has said he will decide by Friday if that charge and another felony would move forward.

He previously refused to dismiss a misdemeanor charge of willful neglect of duty charge against Lyon.

He explained that, at this stage of the case, state court rules prevented him from such an action.

The judge noted that Lyon could renew his argument to have that charge dismissed after evidence is heard at trial.

A trial is still months away.
