Father Of Ayiana Stanley-Jones To Be Re-Sentenced

A Detroit man who was set to get a new trial in the 2010 slaying of a teenager, is instead, to be sentenced today on his no contest plea to a manslaughter charge.
34 year old Charles Jones had served five years in prison after being convicted of giving a gun to man who used it to kill a 17 year old in front of a Detroit party store in May of 2010.

Two days after the shooting, police raided Jones’ home.

During that raid, Jones’ 7 year old daughter was shot and killed by police officer Joseph Weekly.

He said his sub machine gun discharged as the little girls grandmother slapped at the weapon.

Weekly was eventually charged with involuntary manslaughter, but two trials ended in mistrials and the girls family eventually agreed to an 8.5 million dollar settlement with the city.

Jones faced retrial in the shooting of the 17 year old, but agreed to a 10 to 20 year sentenced on the manslaughter charge.
