Swimmers Warned About Lake Michigan

The body of a Brighton man was found offshore in Lake Michigan, several days after he went swimming off Ludington, and didn’t return. Other family members were rescued. A man drowned in high waves near South Haven.
Are currents making it too dangerous to swim in Lake Michigan?
Great Lakes watchers say the waves and currents along the lake are too strong this summer, and they advise people not to go out very far.
At least 27 drownings are verified by the Great Lakes Surf Rescue group. Dave Benjamin of the group says high water levels are making the currents stronger along the shoreline. Lake visitors know that beaches are smaller on the Great Lakes because the water is higher.
