FBI Raids Of UAW During Contract Talks

There is no indication of any changes in contract negotiations between the UAW and the Detroit 3 automakers, despite raids by the FBI and the IRS on the homes of Union president Gary Jones in Canton Twp., former president Dennis Williams in California, a home in in Wisconsin of a chief aide to Williams, the UAW conference center in Black Lake, Michigan, and a UAW office in Missouri. It’s part of the investigation into job training fund corruption. 9 people, former officials of the UAW and Fiat Chrysler, have been charged. Authorities declined to say whether Jones was home when agents arrived or during the raid. The agents conducted what is called a “knock and announce” protocol with a search warrant.
Neighbors say Jones moved into the rental home about a year ago.
