Court Date For Accused Cop Killer Boyfriend

A preliminary exam is scheduled for today for a Garden City man who shot and killed his estranged girlfriend, who was a Detroit police officer.

35 year old Eddie Johnson has been charged with first degree murder in the death of Sgt. Elaine Williams.

The 14 year veteran of the force had been shot numerous times at her home on Belton Street in Garden City.

Johnson was found nearby and arrested.

Williams was the mother of two children and had worked in the police department’s major crimes section.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said this case is a stark reminder of what can potentially happen in every case of domestic violence.
