No Fault Protest

A protest rally is held in Lansing.

Demonstrators were on hand to protest the ending of the state’s old no-fault auto insurance law.

The measure provided lifetime benefits for pedestrians, drivers and passengers severely injured in auto crashes.

But earlier this year, state lawmakers passed a bill that replaced it with a measure called the ‘Assigned Claims Plan.’

It puts a cap on all claims at 250-thousand dollars, no matter the extent of a person’s injuries.

It took effect in June, but critics say it was passed without any public hearings and they want to tell lawmakers they are upset about the current situation and they want changes.
