Pot Applications Start Today

The state of Michigan is, as of today, accepting applications for those wanting to get in on the recreational marijuana business. An application will cost $6,000. They are non-refundable.
The accepting of applications as of today means that some marijuana retail stores could be open for business before the end of the year.

Michigan voters had approved legalizing pot for adult recreational use in November of last year.

The use, possession and the individual growing of up to 12 cannabis plants became legal the following month.

However, marijuana was still only commercially available for sale for the Michigan residents who had qualified for medical marijuana cards.

Under regulations now in place, the new retail stores will be allowed to sell marijuana to anyone 21 or older with proper identification.
