Art Van Going Out Of Business

Art Van Furniture is going out of business.

The company plans to close all of its company owned stores in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Ohio.

The company operates under the brands Art Van Furniture, Art Van PureSleep and Scott Shuptrine Interiors.
The company says liquidation sales will begin Friday at all Art Van stores.
Thomas H. Lee Partners bought the company in 2017. The private equity owner was looking for a possible buyer and indicated it might file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The spurred speculation that two sons of Art Van Elslander, who founded the company, might make a bid to acquire Art Van in bankruptcy.
Van Elslander died in 2018.
