Guv Orders Bars, Restaurants To Close

Gov. Whitmer is ordering all bars and restaurants in the state to close.
The order goes into effect at 3 p.m. Restaurants can still be in business for takeout.

Michigan banned gatherings of 250 or more on Friday, but some bars and restaurants failed to comply, especially in the college towns. Many bars were still crowded through the weekend. This prompted Washtenaw and Ingham counties to clamp down, but now the governor has gone further.

In Michigan,53 cases of COVID-19 are confirmed. Cases topped 3,000 in the U.S. .

Ohio and Illinois have announced similar measures.
