Lose Your Job? What To Do For Benefits

All unemployment claims can currently be filed online at //Michigan.gov/UIA or by calling 866-500-0017.

Impacted workers were formerly required to appear in-person at a Michigan Works! service center but that requirement has been waived. SEMCA Michigan Works! American Job Centers (AJCs) remain open during the outbreak but customers are required to have an appointment to slow possible virus exposure to the public and employees. AJCs in Dearborn, Highland Park, Livonia, Monroe, Southgate and Wayne remain open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Grosse Pointe from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Our top priority is the health and safety of our customers and the SEMCA Michigan Works! staff,” said Greg Pitoniak Chief Executive Officer SEMCA Michigan Works!. “We’re asking impacted workers to apply online or by phone to file their unemployment claims. It is our goal to ensure individuals have income support and resources necessary during this time, and we can provide that support through technology, or by appointment if in-person services are needed.”

Participation requirements for PATH – Partnership. Accountability. Training. Hope, and the Food Assistance Employment and Training programs have been suspended, customers who have additional service needs related to these programs should make an appointment with their coach.
